As you know, here at No Danger we jump at any opportunity to collaborate with different organisations and partners to do what we do best, #ShareTheJoy.
That’s why we simply couldn’t resist the chance to get involved in and support The Wings for Life World Run.
On Sunday the 8th of May, thousands of people around the world took part in The Wings for Life World Run, which aimed to raise awareness and funds for spinal cord injury research. The global race started at exactly the same time, in over 34 countries, and the catcher car – the moving finish line – started half an hour later, chasing the competitors until the last runner got caught.
Our NDD team decided to get our superhero outfits out the closet once again and run our very own ‘Selfie Run’ here in Cape Town. We invited as many differently-abled people as we possible could to join in this rad initiative. Our friends from LOFOB, League of Friends of the Blind and QuadPara Association of the Western Cape even came along too!
There was no set distance that had to be run which added to the accessibility of this event. Competitors simply ran as far as they could along a plotted course or until they were caught by our epic No Danger catcher car – Flash and Batman on Segways!
In true NDD style, our goal was not about the distance, but rather getting as many differently-abled people running as possible. Together, we raised awareness for the Wings For Life foundation AND we got to be a part of the Wings for Life World Run global phenomenon… all while having fun and #SharingTheJoy! A huge shout out and thank you to all the superheroes that joined us on the day. We couldn’t do what we do without you. <3
